Extinct dog breed used for cooking
Happy Thanksgiving holiday for those in the US! I know that I have found comfort and community this week, and hope the best for you as well in the continued holiday season. Now, let’s get on to the wacky stuff:
Extinct dog breed used for cooking
Not for eating! For being mini-chefs. They were called turnspit dogs, and they were bred specifically to run on a wheel and turn meats over a fire. Kitchen dogs!
I love this written description from 1858:
“…long-bodied, crooked-legged and ugly dogs, with a suspicious, unhappy look about them…”
You can be the judge, as this photo is of the last surviving specimen, from a museum in Wales. They were phased out with the advent of mechanical kitchen equipment, and merged in with mutts and mongrels. Poor lil fellas.
The death of the key change
Found this article about pop music from the 60’s onward rather, well, noteworthy.
Check out this graph. How many top songs now have key changes? What happened?
In a few words - hip hop, and digital music production. Check out the article for the full music theory explantation.
You can buy full sheets of US currency
Why? I don’t know. Sheets of 1$ to 100$ are available from the US Mint’s website. Maybe you frame it. Maybe you use it to wrap a burrito. Maybe you just like cutting your own money. Who knows? But it’s there.
Previously on Three Things...
And in case you missed it, in last issue's most clicked link we saw a background actor stay frozen during a scene.
That's all for this week! Do reach out if anything caught your eye, your mind, or your heart.
